Something broken, something confusing, or an idea for what Slow Blink should do next? Write to me directly.
Please include your device model, your iOS version, and the Slow Blink version shown at the bottom of Settings. It usually saves a round of back-and-forth.
If your cat is unwell, contact a veterinarian, not me. Slow Blink keeps records; it does not give veterinary advice, and I cannot answer questions about your cat's health. In an emergency, go to an emergency veterinary service.
The free period and subscriptions
How does the 14-day free period work?
You get full access for 14 days, with no payment card and no account. The countdown starts when you register your first cat — not when you install the app — so the clock doesn't run while you're just looking around.
It's administered by the app, not by an App Store trial, so nothing is charged when it ends and no subscription starts on its own.
I reinstalled the app and my free period didn't reset.
That's intended. The start date is stored in your device Keychain, which survives deleting the app, and is also kept with your iCloud app state. Reinstalling doesn't grant a second free period, and setting the device clock backward doesn't extend one.
What happens to my cats' records when the free period ends?
Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked away. Everything you already saved stays readable — chronicles, care records, episodes, photos, attachments — and you can still generate a Vet Brief from it, including on the day you need it at the clinic. Deleting your own data also stays free.
What needs a subscription is creating and editing: new cats, new records, new episodes, new photos, and the Photo Studio, Memory Drops, sharing and Understanding features.
The plans screen says pricing isn't available.
That's almost always a connectivity problem between your device and the App Store. Check your network, then tap Try again. If it persists, sign out and back in to the App Store in your device settings, or restart the device. Write to me if it still won't load.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase, then open Settings in Slow Blink and tap Restore purchases.
How do I cancel?
In your device Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Slow Blink. Cancelling there stops the renewal; you keep access until the current period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by me — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your data, photos and sync
Where are my cats' records stored?
On your device, and — when iCloud is enabled for Slow Blink — in the private iCloud database tied to your own Apple Account. There is no Slow Blink server. I have no way to see your records, and the app makes no network requests of its own. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
My records aren't appearing on my other device.
Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is enabled for Slow Blink in device settings, and that both have a network connection. Sync isn't instantaneous and may take a moment after a device reconnects.
After a fresh install, app settings sometimes arrive before your cats do. If the app looks empty for a minute, give it time to finish syncing before assuming something is lost.
If I delete a photo from my phone's library, do I lose it in Slow Blink?
No. Slow Blink stores its own copy of every photo you add, so your archive doesn't depend on the original staying in Apple Photos. The trade-off is that those copies use storage on your device and in iCloud — Slow Blink shows how much each cat is using inside their chronicle.
What is the Vet Brief, exactly?
A PDF that Slow Blink assembles from what you've already recorded: history, current medications, recent episodes. It's generated on your phone and goes nowhere until you share it yourself. It's a summary you produced for a consultation, not a clinical document, and your vet is free to disregard it.
Why does the app ask for the microphone?
Only for one optional feature: recording your own short sound cue to get a cat to look at the camera. Recording happens when you start it and never in the background. Those clips stay on that device, are never synced or transmitted, and can be deleted in the app.
How do I delete everything?
Settings, then Delete all app data. It removes every cat, chronicle, care record, episode, photo, attachment and Understanding progress record, and queues the same deletions for iCloud so your other devices follow.
Deleting the app or signing out of iCloud is not the same thing — it leaves synced records in your iCloud account. Delete from within the app first and let it sync.
Can I use Slow Blink for a shelter, rescue or clinic?
It isn't built for that. Slow Blink is designed for the cats in one household and has no multi-user, role or case-management features. The Terms of Use limit it to personal, non-commercial use.
